Approximately 235 years ago, our forefathers came together to create
a new government for the thirteen independent states. This government,
a republic, was limited in scope and power by its constitution. It was
also supposed to be a federation or a federal government of the existing
state governments; subordinate to them as opposed to a national government
which would be above and superior to the state governments. Somewhere
in our history, the federal government exercised a prerogative or power
not provided for in our constitution. At this point, our Constitution’s
amendment procedure failed which meant that the Constitution had failed
in its entirety and unknown to those who should have been concerned it
was on this day that our Republic died. The stage was now set for our
federal government to transform itself into a national government not
bound by constitutional provisions or considerations.
Once the dam of our Republic had been broached, no matter how minor and
innocuous the break, what followed was inevitable and preordained. The
trickle would become a stream, the stream would grow into a river, the
river into a torrent, and finally, the whole dam would be washed away
in an uncontrollable deluge of federal laws and regulations. This is the
state of our union today. The union is dead and in its place we have a
monolith of a government; all powerful and accountable only to itself.
In truth, our constitution is now nothing more than a historical curiosity.
Because our government no longer abides by our constitution, every high
government official, elected or otherwise, violates the oath they take
to preserve and protect our constitution concurrent with speaking these
words. To preserve a constitution means that you will religiously abide
by it. To swear you will do this with your fingers crossed behind your
back is a lie that sets the stage for a government where lying and deception
are sacred duties and the birthright of those in power.
The United States of America is no longer a collection of “united
states” but instead the states have become subservient governments
to our national government which now rules unfettered by constitutional
precept. Therefore, the republic we once had no longer exists. This being
the case, when we “pledge allegiance” to our Flag and to the
Republic for which it stands, we do so in vain. This fact is not lost
upon those who lead us. Not only does this deplorable state of affairs
give license for them to lie to us, our hypocrisy, albeit our unwitting
hypocrisy, is ample justification for them to conclude that we not only
deserve to be fooled, but should be fooled for our own good.
Because our government and those who lead us believe deceiving the public
is normal, acceptable, and advisable, this attitude has corrupted most
other institutions of our society; colleges, universities, the media,
and public and private corporations. All these institutions subscribe
to and support the big lie and all these institutions believe that the
average American, by nature, is ignorant and should be kept that way for
his own good and, of course, the good of those who lead us. Incredibly,
these people actually view this deplorable state of affairs as a win/win
for all concerned. Unfortunately, this kind of warped thinking is why
America no longer works, why everything we held dear and took for granted
is long gone, and why Americans feel so frustrated today.
We presently live in a nation where the war in terrorism is being used
as an excuse to violate the inalienable rights of Americans and the rights
of the citizens of other nations as well. The big lie perpetuated by government
officials is that these measures are necessary to protect us from terrorists.
The simple truth of the matter is that prior to declaring a war on terrorism,
our government had more than enough authority to deal with terrorist threats
against the United States, but failed to do so not because those tools
were inadequate, but because those entrusted to use them were incompetent.
The irony of this situation is that these same people have used their
failure as an excuse to deny us many of the rights we enjoyed previously
and by so doing, have handed the terrorists their greatest victory.
We presently are fighting a war in Iraq, initiated through lies and perpetuated
by lies. Admittedly, Saddam Hussein was a brutal tyrant that deserved
to be deposed, but that is not the reason told to the world by government
officials to justify invading Iraq. Now we are wrongfully told that we
are fighting terrorism in Iraq. To be sure, terrorists elements have been
induced by our invasion to flock to Iraq to aide the Iraqi insurgents,
but that is not who we are fighting. The Iraqi insurgents are made up
primarily of people who wish rid their homeland of an invading army. In
other words, they are patriots, albeit desperate patriots fighting an
invading army the only way they can, but they are just as nobly motivated
as the patriots who give us the nation within which we now live. There
are three groups of victims in Iraq; innocent non-combatants caught in
the crossfire, the fine young men and women who make up our armed forces,
and patriotic Iraqis defending their homeland against a foreign aggressor.
Presently, manufacturing jobs are disappearing from this nation in droves
in response to the New World Order’s global economy and despite
this our government postures that we are in an economic recovery. Indeed,
we are experiencing something that has the ear marks of an economic recovery,
but the truth is that deficit spending on the war on terrorism and exploding
consumer debt are the only things nudging up the economic indicators used
to judge the health of our economy. Despite the positive numbers, this
kind of recovery is not sustainable unless our nation stays in perpetual
state of war and the national debt can be increased without limit. Under
the leadership of George Bush, we have crossed a line that should never
be crossed. The health and well being of our economy is now dependent
upon deficit spending and continued deficit spending will be the financial
ruin of our Nation.
We cannot afford to wage any war on terrorism, never mind one that goes
on forever. Similarly, we cannot afford the cost of sending men to Mars
no matter how noble this venture may seem to be. The United States of
America is insolvent. Despite this, President Bush maintains that deficits
mean nothing and we can go on spending irresponsibly without concern.
This is unmitigated claptrap the result of which will be the total economic
collapse of this Nation which is now no longer far off in the distant
future, but just around the corner.
Fortunately, our government has not yet progressed to murdering citizens
who disagree with it. It is also true that we still retain a semblance
of free speech, although speaking freely in American today can cost you
your job, your chance of promotion, and have a negative impact on your
ability to feed your family. In other words, there is a terrible price
that will be paid for speaking too freely in America today. However, ignoring
this point, what else is left of our freedom? Inalienable rights no longer
exist and we no longer have the right to be free of unreasonable searches
and seizures, the right to be secure in our own homes, the right of privacy,
the right to retain our property, the right of self-determination, and
the right to petition the government for the redress of grievances. I
suppose one could argue that we still have it pretty good and things could
be worse. Yes, I agree. We could be homeless, in jail or dead, which are
the only things “worse” that I can think of.
